Last week (I know I’m behind on blogging!) we went to Corona High School to visit our beloved photography teacher, Mr. Nino. We brought him his favorite lunch from Miguel’s and had a wonderful time chatting about photography.
Nino was my very first photography mentor. He got me to buy my second film camera, The Canon AE 1. (I used and loved that camera until it got stolen out of my car a few years ago). Here’s a picture of it:
Nino was always very positive and encouraged me to develope my technique and always said I “had the eye” and that can not be taught. I took his class almost every year. The year I didn’t I was in there at lunch always working on something. Jeremy also took his class one year and he failed! Jeremy was every teacher’s worst nightmare! So that’s kind of funny, one of his best students and worst ones got married and started a photography business!
From the archive. I keep everything. I’m sentimental. What can I say?
From the very first roll of film I ever shot in Nino’s class. I still love old cars.
HA! My class ids. For those of you that don’t know, my maiden name is Sensenbaugh. Aren’t you glad it’s not Dana Sensenbaugh photography? I am!
I couldn’t find my Senior photo (but I did find some parasols I’d been looking for! Don’t you love it when that happens?) So this is my Sophomore pic. It’s the best photo from school I ever got. I wish you could see how bad my Senior pic is!
Jeremy’s photo of me from Senior year:
Us with Mr. Nino. He still looks the same!
ah Nino! i miss him. “Just clickin it!” how fun!
Hi Noelle!
You should go visit him! I’m sure he’d love to see you. Wasn’t his class the best?!

Oh my goodness, this was such a fun post. I had Mr. Nino too, I remember how he would always tell me to spit out my gum. I did not do well in his class and I remember finally trying really hard on an assignment and I ruiend the roll of film when developing it in his class and I cried. I would not of graduated high school if Nino did not let me squeeze by.
You had good school ID pics… mine are horrible. Let’s just say…I had a country western vest and shoulder pads involved in one of them!
ya i would love to go see him, i loved the odd smell of that dark room – didnt it get remodeled? i totally have all my id cards too!you having a bad day on that fist one? you looked pretty pissed! hahaha
I agree! You totally have the best school pictures. So you have always been cute and pretty, I knew it!! And that is hysterical that Jeremy failed his class. Ha!
Wow, that sure brought back some CHS memories. Nino always made me spit my gum out too, Great Blog! And I LOVE the ID Cards!

Carrie,
I forgot you went there too! He hated gum and spaghetti straps. One time he sent me to the office for wearing spaghetti straps on a hot day! I even had a shirt I was wearing over it but he still made me go!
Jeremy’s pic of you from senior year is my favorite! It made me have a whole flood of memories about you. I’m teary eyed a tad…don’t tell anyone though.
Fun fun. How neat to be able to go back and show your teacher how successful you are, in part from him.
AHH NINO HE IS SO SWEET UNTIL HE FINDS OUT IM RELATED TO JEREMY!!! THERE GREAT PICS! BUT YOU RELE HAVE UR IDS STILL WOW
