Heidi and Nathan are the sweetest couple ever! They are so nice and they have such a calmness about them. I absolutely loved spending time and photographing their special energy. Since Heidi was so busy with work leading up to the wedding, we shot these about three days before their wedding. We were also planning on using this spot to do their first look and all the bridal portraits, my magical rustic park.

For the second part of Alleah + Scott’s San Diego Engagement, we took an Uber to Coronado. After we almost died going the wrong way on a one-way, I looked over and saw the cutest sign “COFFEE SHOP” and thought it would be perfect for a shoot. (Little did I know Scott was on a mission to find a gluten free chocolate chip cookie and by chance, they had one! He shared a bite with us and it was amazing.)
By the time we got to the beach, it was one of the most gorgeous pink and purple amazing sunset; it looked fake!
After this, we took the ferry back to Downtown. They took us out to an amazingly delicious Thai meal and we met Alleah’s super sweet mom. It was an amazing end to a perfect day…Thank you Scott and Alleah for being so fun!
Clayton’s Coffee Shop has everything I love.
Alleah had to double fist while Scott enjoyed his long sought after cookie. (A man after my own heart.)
You know when someone sends you an email and you can tell right away they are AMAZING?! That’s exactly how I felt when Alleah first contacted me. I could tell that Scott and Alleah are such a sweet and fun loving couple. They made a trip out here all the way from Austin to do these photos and look for wedding venues (my kind couple.) Then we met in person and I felt like I’d known them for years!
We had such a fun time adventuring through downtown San Diego. We made our way to a cute little boutique hotel called Indigo, where the Rooftop Bar looks out on Petco and also shot at the Jsix Rooftop Bar. Then we walked a little around the Gaslamp before heading to Clayton’s and the beach at Hotel Del in Coronado.
I get so much inspiration from the energy of a city and fun couple; it’s one of my favorite things to photograph. Especially when anything can happen, like the random guy at Jsix who made a guest appearance by cheering their photoshot on! So fun.
I’ll save the cute vintage diner and amazing sunset we encountered in Coronado for a later post…
Then we got another round at Jsix, one favorite of mine in Downtown.
Cheers to the couple! Thanks random guy! It’s always so much fun to see the support of strangers when I shoot engagements.
After their family shoot in Sequoia, Brandon humored me and Kristen and let me do this shoot of just the two of them. Aren’t you glad you went along, Brandon?!
We have a canoe that’s so similar to this that I haven’t been able to get on the water yet. It was magical shooting a couple in one, on the water.
The Santa Barbara area is really special to Gloria + Elliot’s relationship and they love to take trips there. So we decided it was the perfect place to shoot their engagement session. A lot of my weddings this year are in Santa Barbara area and it was so fun to shoot Gloria + Elliot there too. I love me some Santa Barbara shoots!
Gloria + Elliot have such a sweetness about them. They are SUPER nice and so cute I just wanna squeeze them!
