Surrealist Inspired Wedding at Bower’s Musuem: Demi + Steven

Demi + Steven had such a unique and inspirational wedding! In all my years of doing weddings, I have never seen a surrealist themed wedding. Truly original. Everything was artistic with a personal meaning behind everything.

Demi had this to say about her inspiration: I wanted something slightly vintage and with an old Hollywood feel. It seemed only natural that we have a Surrealist inspired wedding, as we are fascinated by the subconscious and bizarre. Surrealism is about desire, frenzy, and unconscious drives. This seemed very appropriate to our relationship. I also like the irony of the intense misogyny of Surrealism mingled with the fact that a woman planned everything.

Wedding Location: Bower’s Museum in Santa Ana (Huang Sculpture Garden)

Southern Californa Photography: Brittany + Grant’s DIY Wedding

Brittany + Grant are a sweet couple who have been together for a long time. I shot Brittany’s brother and sister in law Brent + Tawny’s wedding a couple years ago and it’s so nice to be around this wonderful family again. They incorporated so many personal touches to this wedding and worked on the projects for months. It was so hard to narrow down because of all the details, so I’ll do my best describing all the beauty and love that was this wedding.

Thank you to Brittany, Grant and their families for sharing this special day with me. Truly an honor.

They were very excited to finally be getting married.

I loved how they displayed Brittany + Grant’s mother’s wedding dresses. Both of their parents have been married for years. Such a nice touch.

The frames hanging from the trees with the dress. In gorgeous light.

The guys got ready at Brittany + Grant’s house. How cute that each groomsman had their own tag!

Each table had a different country/city theme with lots of mason jars.

They had this wood piece with a drawing made for guests to sign. Instead of paper programs for everyone, they displayed a huge frame that Brittany made instead.

Love note from Amy + Steven!

This love note is amazing! So honored to have shot this wedding. Thank you Amy + Steven!

“Dana captured some very special moments–and they were absolutely perfect. Keeping in mind, I’ve taken photography classes so I know…one has to take hundreds to find that special one. Dana captured perhaps one of the most special moments–it was the couple minutes before I walked down the aisle with my dad and in the photo I was smiling up at him as he was looking ahead with a smile on his face. I can’t believe I even considered not hiring any photographer (I’m not much of a wedding person) but in the end, it’s all about the photos because the day goes by in a flash. I am so happy I called Dana. She actually photographed my good friend’s wedding, and as I was a bridesmaid I already knew her easy-going spirit and amazing work. I was considering just eloping, too, but Dana’s photos made me so glad I had a wedding after all. It was a pretty special day. You will be so lucky to have Dana at your wedding.”amysteven0018

Arcadia Photography: Amy + Steven’s Wedding

Amy + Steven tied the knot at Amy’s parent’s beautiful home in Arcadia. It was a small, elegant yet relaxed affair. A wedding can be so many things but I love when it’s simply about the couple.

Some details. Love the double happiness symbol.
